Sometimes when I have people phone me up for a quote on home decor or renovation projects, they normally know what to ask, and then from that I can give them a good enough answer to what they are looking for. However, in some cases, some people are not too sure about what to ask regarding interior design services, so I have listed below some questions that might help you get the answers you were looking for.
1. Ask the decorator How far ahead are you booked up for?
This is a great question to ask when considering your home decor options. Before you start to discuss the type of renovation or interior design services you are looking for, it’s wise to inquire how far ahead they are booked. Some companies may have schedules that are booked up for 3 months, 2 months, or even just 1 month. You simply don’t know until you ask. This can save both parties a lot of time and energy. You might want the work done sooner rather than later, or you might prefer to wait. If you don’t ask, neither of you will know!
2. Explain to the painter & decorator What type of work are you looking to get done.
We can’t read minds, and just because we specialize in home decor and provide interior design services year in and year out, we do not automatically know what you would like for your renovation. A quick and simple question about what you envision for your space would help a lot. Once you explain your ideas, it becomes much easier to understand what you would like to achieve.
3.Ask the painter and decorator, do they do wallpapering if you were looking for this to be done.
You might think that all decorators specialize in home decor, including wallpapering, but that's not always the case. Some focus solely on painting. However, there are decorators like myself who offer comprehensive interior design services, capable of wallpapering and hanging lining paper in various areas of your home. It's easy to make assumptions, but you would be surprised at the range of skills individuals possess in the renovation field.
4. How does it work in getting a quote?
Once you have called me, I would typically come around to discuss your home decor ideas and explore what you would like to achieve. I will ask several questions to better understand your vision and needs. Then, within 2-4 days, I will provide a quote for my interior design services, which you can receive either by post or email. If you prefer to have the quote on the same day, I can arrange that as well.
5.Ask the company do they have trade insurance ?
This is important if something goes wrong and the item, or part of the house needs repairing; then insurance is there to cover this. If a large accident were to happen, you are covered, especially if you've invested in home decor or renovation projects. Without insurance, how would the claim be settled? Apart from things getting messy, it could complicate your interior design services and leave you in a not-so-good situation at all.
