5 Questions to Ask a painter and decorator
Sometimes when I have people phone me up for a quote, they normally know what to ask, and then from that I can give them a good enough answer to what they are looking for.
But in some cases, some people are not to sure in what to ask, so I have listed below some questions that might be able to help you get the answers you were looking for.
1. Ask the decorator How far ahead are you booked up for?
This is a great question to ask. Before you start to explain what type of work you were looking to get done ask how far ahead they are booked up for, some companies could be 3 months/2 months/1 months ahead, you simply don’t know,this can save both parties a lot of time and energy, You might want the work done sooner than later, or you might want the work done much later, if you don’t ask you both don’t know!
2. Explain to the painter & decorator What type of work are you looking to get done.
We can’t read minds and just because we paint and decorate peoples houses year in year out, we do not automatically know what you would like doing in your house. So just a quick and simple question in explained in what you would like doing would help a lot, once you do explain then it becomes more easier to understand what you would like doing and then some more.
3.Ask the painter and decorator, do they do wallpapering if you were looking for this to be done.
You would think that all decorators can wallpaper but that’s not always the case, some only paint and that’s it, and then there are other decorators that can wallpaper and hang lining paper in all areas like myself, you can assume but its not always the case you would be surprised.
4. How does it work in getting a quote?
Once you have called up I would normally come round and have a look in what you would like doing and then I will ask a good few questions to understand you more. Then within 2-4 days ill have the quote to send out either posted or email, if you would like the quote on the day there and then I could also do that.
5.Ask the company do they have trade insurance ?
This is important if something goes wrong and the item, or part of the house needs repairing then insurance is there to cover this, if a large accident was to happen you are covered. If there is no insurance then how would the claim be settled? Apart from things getting messy and not in a good situation at all.
